Introducing Tendring Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership

We would like to begin by mentioning that the district of Tendring is one of the safest places to live in the UK.

Essex has one of the lowest crime rates in England and within the county, Tendring Police Division stands out as a beacon of success.
Home Office figures show that only four police forces of the 40 in England had a lower crime rate than Essex.

Although the figures are good the Tendring Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) is still striving to combat crime.

The Crime and Disorder Act came into force in July 1998 and required CDRPs to be set up in each District in England and Wales. The Act placed an obligation on local authorities and the police, (amongst others,) to work together to develop and implement a strategy to tackle crime and disorder in their area.

Under the Act and the subsequent Police Reform Act 2002, Tendring District Council, Essex Police, Essex County Council, Essex Police Authority, Essex Fire Authority, Essex Probation Service and North East Essex NHS have been designated 'Responsible Authorities' and are held accountable for this work.

Together they have formed the Responsible Authorities Group to oversee the development of a crime and disorder reduction strategy for the Tendring district.

Tendring is one of the safest places to live. The Tendring Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership has a Mission Statement to ‘reduce both the incidence and fear of crime and disorder and make the area a safer place to live’.

As a result, all partners within the CDRP are working hard to make Tendring an even safer place to live, work and visit.

Objectives

The Tendring CDRP has identified 3 key strategic themes to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the District and to improve community safety.

These are:

  1. Reducing the incidence of anti-social behaviour and increase public reassurance;
  2. Reducing the level of volume crime (including vehicle crime,
    criminal damage, domestic burglary and violent crime and arson);
  3. Reducing alcohol and drug misuse within the community.
